How to look after yourself during chemo

Looking after yourself…

  • Exercise – gently, 30 mins is fine
  • Don’t over or under-eat! This is stressful stuff, but don’t reward / punish yourself with food

Looking after lips, skin, and nails…

  • Wash only with a simple, mild castille soap with no added ingredients
  • Moisturise after every contact with water – and preferably never leave your fingers and toes soaking for long
  • Use rubber gloves for washing up and cleaning – never bare hands
  • Whenever you get bored put nail balm or shea butter on your nails – 3 times a day is good
  • Use a NON-petroleum-based lip cream to keep lips healthy and non-chapped – stops the germs/viruses getting hold via the damaged bits!
